Iraq crisis: 'How I survived Islamic State massacre'

A survivor of the massacre in Kawju (also spelt Kocho) in Iraq, in which Islamic State (IS) militants killed at least 80 people, has told the BBC that initially they had promised not to hurt the people in the village.

Rafed Said Amu says he only escaped by walking for 12 hours to Mount Sinjar, after crawling away while bodies were bulldozed into a mass grave.

Speaking to the BBC's Yalda Hakim, he said that IS rounded up the men outside the village and shot them, while taking the women away with them.
