Islamic State: Why former US soldier joined Kurdish fighters

Much attention has been focused on the hundreds of foreign jihadis who have joined up to fight with Islamic State militants.

But there are some volunteers making their way to fight against IS, including a small number of Americans, who have been joining the ranks of the Syrian Kurds.
