Syria crisis: Lebanon needs more support says UN

The UN has expressed concern over new Lebanese restrictions on Syrian refugees aimed at slowing the influx of asylum seekers escaping civil war.

It wants the government to clarify whether the "most vulnerable refugees" can still gain access to Lebanon.

A spokesman for the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) in Lebanon, Ron Redmond, said the international community must offer more support.

He warned: "We're going to see more and more people taking to irregular channels to get out of Syria."
