Brown warns of danger of ignoring Syrian refugee crisis

The UN envoy and former prime minister Gordon Brown has said he wants to provide Syrian refugees in Lebanon with hope and is calling on the international community to help.

He warned that if the international community ignore the problem there was a danger that children could become radicalised.

He described it as one of the biggest humanitarian tragedies and one of the biggest refugee crises since the Second World War.

Hundreds of thousands of child refugees from the civil war in Syria are believed to be living in Lebanon.
