Netanyahu vows to stop stone-throwers after Al Aqsa clashes

Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has announced tougher penalties for people who throw stones, following a third day of violent clashes between Palestinians and police at the Al Aqsa complex in Jerusalem.

The government agreed to establish mandatory minimum penalties for those who "endanger human lives by throwing stones, fire-bombs and explosives".

It also said it would introduce heavy fines for parents who allow their children to engage in violent rioting.

On Monday an Israeli man died after his car was pelted with rocks.
