Israeli occupation is 'abnormal, cruel and lethal'

A member of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) has accused Israel of carrying out an "abnormal, cruel and lethal military occupation", and attacks on Israelis must be understood in this context.

PLO executive committee member Hanan Ashrawi said that Israel was "killing Palestinians with impunity" and using "enormous violence and cruelty".

Their behaviour "provokes Palestinians beyond endurance", she added.
