Syria conflict: The story of the battle for Homs
Homs has seen some of the fiercest fighting of Syria's four-and-a-half-year civil war.
The city was once dubbed the "capital of the revolution" and much of the city fell under the control of the opposition in 2011.
But government forces laid siege to the opposition's strongholds, gradually retaking them one by one.
In December 2015, rebels began evacuating the last district they held, returning the city to government hands.
Those leaving the western suburb of al-Wair will travel to rebel-held areas of Idlib province.
Here are some key moments of the conflict captured by BBC teams inside the city since 2011.
