Award-winning film director Abbas Kiarostami dies at 76

The Iranian film director Abbas Kiarostami has died at the age of 76.

He had been suffering from cancer. Hugely influential, he won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1997 for 'Taste of Cherry', the seventh feature film in a career that began twenty years earlier, before the Iranian revolution.
