Yemen confict: 'People pay heaviest price'

Britain is boosting the amount of humanitarian aid it gives to Yemen.

The international development secretary Priti Patel has told the BBC the government will spend an extra £37m this year to help the millions of people suffering as a result of civil war.

A Saudi-led coalition backed by Britain and the US has carried out a bombing campaign against the rebels who overthrew the government 18 months ago.

A naval and aerial blockade by the Saudi coalition, which controls all goods and aid coming into the country, has led to further shortages of food, fuel and medicine.
