Congresswoman 'was target' in shooting, says sheriff

Officials in Arizona say Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was the target of Saturday's shooting, which critically injured her and killed six others.

A total of 19 people were shot in the incident, which occurred as the Democrat met voters in Tucson.

A suspect is in custody. Pima County, Arizona Sheriff Clarence Dupnik told reporters the gunman used a semi-automatic weapon and that officers were searching for a second suspect.
