Barack Obama 'candid' with China's Hu Jintao

US President Barack Obama has told a news conference in Washington he has been ''very candid'' in discussions with visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Mr Hu acknowledged "a lot still needs to be done" in China over human rights.

President Obama said the two men had been able to ''engage and discuss these issues in a frank and candid way''.
