Trayvon Martin death: Florida citizens seek justice

Florida residents have gathered at a church in Sanford, Florida to discuss the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Martin was shot dead in Sanford by a neighbourhood watch volunteer who deemed the unarmed Martin suspicious.

George Zimmerman, 28, has not been arrested, claiming that he was acting in self-defence.

But community leaders, activists and ordinary people in Florida's African-American community have voiced their concerns that justice was not served.

On Thursday civil rights activist Rev Al Sharpton is due to address another gathering in the city.

Earlier this week, those in church spoke of their fears and frustrations in the wake of Martin's death. They also discussed what they perceived to be decades of injustices for the area's African-American community.
