Deepwater 2010: BP gets record fine for 'catastrophe'
BP has received the biggest criminal fine in US history as part of a $4.5bn (£2.8bn) settlement related to the fatal 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster.
Attorney General Eric Holder from the Department of Justice said that BP admitted responsibility ''for the deaths of 11 people, and the events that led to an unprecedented environmental catastrophe''.
''It stands as a testament to the hard work of countless investigators, attorneys, support staff members, and other personnel,'' he added.
