David Keene: No compromise on right to bear arms

David Keene was president of the US National Rifle Association for two years until May 2013.

During his tenure gun violence in America was the focus of national debate, especially after the massacre at Sandy Hook elementary school of 20 pupils and six teachers in December 2012.

An attempt to introduce a federal gun control bill in April 2013 was defeated. The NRA opposed the bill and has long argued against most gun controls. On average about 30,000 Americans each year are killed by firearms.

HARDtalk's Stephen Sackur asks David Keene whether the NRA's stance is really compatible with freedom.
