Ottawa shootings: Standing ovation as parliament returns
The Canadian prime minister has addressed parliament, a day after a gunman rampaged through the building before being shot dead.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper said it was "a terribly sad day" and paid tribute to those risked their lives to protect their country.
His comments came after a moment's silence was held for Cpl Nathan Cirillo, who died in the attack.
Earlier, the parliamentary Sergeant-at-Arms, Kevin Vickers, who shot dead the gunman, was given a standing ovation.
