Obama: 'We engaged in some brutal activity after 9/11'

President Obama has said the US was engaged in some brutal activity after 9/11 following the release of a Senate report on CIA enhanced interrogation techniques.

Speaking in a television interview he said: "Part of what sets us apart is that when we do something wrong, we acknowledge it."

The report concluded that information the CIA collected through these techniques failed to secure information that foiled any threat.

However, the CIA insisted that interrogations had helped to save lives.
