US-Cuba ties: Alan Gross says his release from Cuba is 'a game changer'

American contractor Alan Gross, who was detained by the Cuban authorities five years ago, has described his release as ''a game changer'' in relations between Cuba and the US.

Mr Gross and three Cubans held in the US have gained their freedom as part of a prisoner swap deal.

Speaking to reporters shortly after he landed in Washington DC, Mr Gross said it was good to be home.

He also paid tribute to the Cuban people.
