Sir Elton John comments on Dolce & Gabbana

When designers Dolce and Gabbana referred to children born through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) as "synthetic" and said gay couples shouldn't raise children, a very public spat ensued. Sir Elton John took issue. He has two children of his own, with husband David Furnish and said he would boycott Dolce and Gabbana products.

A war of words took place on social media, but when the BBC's Katty Kay asked him about it on his recent visit to Capitol Hill, Sir Elton took a more conciliatory tone.

"In the end, life is too short not to have an olive branch and in the end an olive branch will be extended," he said.
