Walking the beat in Cincinnati
Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell took charge of the department less than two years ago. The son of a black father and white mother, Blackwell has made it his mission to address the deep mistrust between black communities and the police.
In a strategy that Chief Blackwell describes as "risky", he took officers out of their patrol cars and put them on the streets to engage with communities.
The BBC followed Officer Jennett Vaughn as she walked her beat around Cincinnati.
