Washington Zoo welcomes Mei Xiang's new panda cub

Zookeepers in the United States have announced that their giant panda, Mei Xiang, has given birth to a cub.

The panda is one of the star attractions at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC.

The zoo's "Panda Cam" crashed within seconds of the birth being announced, due to the volume of people attempting to view it.
