Migrant crisis is 'litmus test' for EU, ambassador says

Hundreds of migrants protested for a second day at Budapest's main international train station, as Hungarian authorities prevent them from travelling on to Germany and other EU countries.

Some 2,000 people have been camped out at Keleti station, having bought tickets for onward journeys that they have been unable to take.

Meanwhile, Germany has joined forced with Italy and France in calling for a review of EU asylum rules, as more and more refugees from the Middle East and North Africa make their way to Europe in search of a better life.

Germany's ambassador to the US, Peter Wittig, tells the BBC that the crisis is a "litmus test" for the solidarity of European Union nations.
