  1. Sutton's predictions: Forest v West Hampublished at 11:01 BST 31 August

Chris Sutton smiling on a yellow and black background with 'Sutton's predictions' written below his face

It's been a good start to the season for Nottingham Forest despite all of their off-the-pitch turbulence. They got a draw last week coming from behind at Crystal Palace and were excellent against Brentford in their first game.

West Ham look flimsy and were knocked out of the League Cup in midweek. Graham Potter is under serious pressure. Potter needs to wave his magic wand!

I'm really worried about West Ham. I think the West Ham fans have had enough already and we're not even in September yet. After their cup loss Jarrod Bowen tried to confront some Hammers fans - that wasn't super, smashing or great from Bowen. He later apologised.

Forest should win this one comfortably.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Callum Hudson-Odoi has signed a new three-year-deal which will keep him at Nottingham Forest until 2028.

The winger has made 72 appearances in all competitions since joining from Chelsea in September 2023. He's scored 14 goals and registered six assists.

"This is home, and l've enjoyed every moment," said Hudson-Odoi. "I appreciate all the support and love I've been getting since day one, and coming here has helped me in every way possible."

Chief football officer, Ross Wilson said: "It has been a busy summer for all of us here at Nottingham Forest. As well as strengthening our squad, we have also been active in extending contracts of the core of the team that has put us in this exciting position as a key part of our strategy.

"We all love Callum and from the first second we met back in 2023 to discuss him joining the club it has been a pleasure to work with him.

"Everyone knows how important he has been on the pitch, but he also plays a big role off it. He is popular amongst all of our players and staff, and we're delighted he has committed to the Club signing this new deal.

"We are sure there's more great moments to come from Callum."

  5. Nottingham Forest v West Ham: key stats and talking points published at 12:07 BST 30 August

    Matthew Hobbs
    BBC Sport journalist

Beleaguered West Ham United boss Graham Potter continues his search for a first win of the season as his side travel to face Nuno Espirito Santo's Nottingham Forest. BBC Sport takes a look at some of the key themes as doubts surround the futures of both managers.

    West Ham's woes continue

The start of West Ham United's season is unravelling quickly due to failings that have persisted from the past Premier League campaign.

Graham Potter is nearly eight months into his tenure in east London but he continues to struggle to instil his preferred possession-based style of football. The Hammers would be bottom of a Premier League table featuring only the ever-present clubs since Potter's first league game in charge on 14 January.

The former Brighton and Chelsea boss called for unity after Tuesday's messy League Cup defeat in the West Midlands to a Wolves side who had failed to score in two opening defeats in the Premier League.

Although that loss took place in a different competition, throwing away a one-goal lead in the last eight minutes is another familiar theme... West Ham have dropped an unrivalled 15 points from winning positions under Potter.

    Two wins since March

Since the start of March, the Hammers have won just two of 13 Premier League matches (D4, L7).

They have faced the most shots on target in the top-flight this season (12), while only Tottenham and Brighton have conceded more goals since Potter joined.

Two defeats whilst conceding eight goals in 2025-26 constitutes West Ham's worst start to a league season since 1954.

Next they face Nottingham Forest - and they haven't scored a Premier League goal at the City Ground since 1996.

If the Hammers are to find a way to prosper under Potter they must surely see out the summer transfer window without losing Lucas Paqueta.

His influential role from last season has continued into this campaign and the 55-cap Brazil international leads the team rankings for tackles (six), possession won (10), successful passes in the final third (43), while he also ranks second for dribbles (seven).

    Will Nuno see out August?

Forest are attempting to win their opening two home matches for the first time in a top-flight campaign since the mid-1980s, although the future of head coach Nuno Espirito Santo remains unclear.

The 51-year-old refused to guarantee he would remain at Forest beyond the transfer window after a falling out with owner Evangelos Marinakis over new signings.

The club has spent £140m on eight arrivals, including a combined £72m on wingers Dan Ndoye and Omari Hutchinson – although Nuno has expressed his desire for a new goalkeeper and full-backs, while Anthony Elanga has departed to Newcastle.

The net result is a meeting of two clubs whose managers face uncertain futures. A win for either may not completely assuage the nature of any lingering doubts.

  6. Europa League draw 'really does have a little bit of everything'published at 11:05 BST 30 August

Nottingham Forest's Europa League draw promises "cracking nights" for home supporters and "a little bit of everything" for travelling fans, says BBC Radio Nottingham's Colin Fray.

The Reds will be jetting off to four different countries, while also hosting four teams at the City Ground, in the competition's league stage.

Speaking on the latest episode of Shut Up And Show More Football, Fray said: "There are some very nice places for fans to visit, if they can get their hands on those prized away tickets, and some cracking nights at the City Ground ahead as well.

"Nuno Espirito Santo has a strong relationship with Porto, being a former player and manager, and they will be coming to visit. That's a glamorous fixture in itself as they finished third in the Primeira Liga last season.

"Ferencvaros are the current champions of Hungary, and they have won the Hungarian top flight for the past seven years. Midtjylland from Denmark will also be visiting the City Ground.

"Then we have Malmo - the fixture that will have all of the history. What a lovely tale this is - not only from the 1979 European Cup final, but also from the 1995-96 Uefa Cup round of 64.

"The Reds are back in Europe and reunited once again with the light blues from Sweden, so it really does have a little bit of everything.

"From a fans' point of view, the away fixtures are all in places that aren't ridiculously hard to get to as well."

BBC Radio Nottingham's David Jackson replied: "If I'm being really greedy, I would have fancied a Scottish team. Rangers or Celtic would have been interesting.

"I partly wanted Rangers because they are just getting tonked every week at the moment, so there would have been a good chance of victory!"

  7. Honesty is the best policy for Nunopublished at 19:00 BST 29 August

Nuno Espirito Santo's assertion he has no regrets over his public swipes at Nottingham Forest tells you everything you need to know about him.

He insisted he will always be honest - even if he does not reveal to the media, and therefore the fans, everything.

Nuno will only say something if he really wants to. The times he has made waves in a news conference - at Wolves, Tottenham or Forest - are minimal.

He is someone who is guarded. He has relaxed since the gruff and standoffish early days at Molineux, but there has always been a barrier.

That is why the past two weeks of comments have been such a surprise, although he was noticeably happier at the City Ground on Friday afternoon.

It was not the explosive news conference of last week, but Nuno was still engaging enough.

The Portuguese's position has been in doubt ever since he criticised Nottingham Forest's slow transfer window two weeks ago, before saying his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis had changed last Friday.

Yet this time he was upbeat and friendly on the day Forest discovered their Europa League opponents, while insisting he still expected to remain in post come the end of the international break.

Nuno revealed he would discuss the future direction of Forest after Sunday's visit of West Ham, while Marinakis - in Monaco for the Europa League draw - dismissed any rift.

Separately, they both painted a picture of some unity despite Nuno's clear frustrations at the club this summer and Forest will hope clear-the-air talks will resolve any lingering issues.

  9. Nuno on 'right moment' for Marinakis chat, Anderson call-up and Europa drawpublished at 15:12 BST 29 August

    Nicola Pearson
    BBC Sport journalist

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been speaking to the media before Sunday's Premier League game against West Ham at the City Ground (kick-off 14:00 BST).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

    • Nuno addressed the comments made before last weekend's game about the breakdown in relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis: "We didn't have a chance this week [to discuss]. A tough week for both of us. A lot of work. The president is now in Monaco. But we are to talk, this kind of thing should be done in the right moment. The right moment is after the game. Now we are focused on West Ham and then the international break, and that is the right time."

    • The Forest boss confirmed they had spoken on the phone this week and he feels the situation is resolvable. When asked if he feels his job is safe, he said: "Yes, I think in that sense I am totally relaxed. We need to have a talk about the future of club. How we address things after the transfer market closes. What is the commitment to the club. Me and the president all want the same thing, which is what is the best for Forest."

    • On if the players have been impacted: "No, the answer against Crystal Palace was very good. We have been able to shield players from the noise and they are focused on the tasks. They are mature in their attitude for preparing the game."

    • On Friday's Europa League draw: "First of all, it was nice to be in the draw and see together, as team, which opponents we could have. It is a good draw. Now, we need to see when matches will happen. That will be main thing for knowing when to recover for Premier League games. We have tough opponents but the City Ground it will be huge for us."

    • Nuno said "the boy is buzzing" after Elliott Anderson received his first England call-up and added: "For him and for Morgan [Gibbs-White], it is a special and proud moment for us all. I have been checking - since 1996 we didn't have two players in England squad. It says a lot about them and improvement of the team. These visual recognitions are only possible if the team competes well."

    • On the difficulties of integrating new signings once the season has started: "In a perfect scenario, [we have them] first day of pre-season - that would be the right moment. But I have spoken about it being a frustration. It is harder to settle now. But, they are aware they need to make the extra conscious effort of integrating. We are working hard on that aspect."
