Sam Smith has soared to the top of the UK album chart with his debut record, In The Lonely Hour.
The BBC's Sound of 2014 winner sold 101,000 copies, knocking Coldplay off the top spot into second place.
It comes a week after the 22-year-old scored his third number one single with Stay With Me.
He failed to hold on to that position this week however, being toppled by UK/Chicago-based producer and DJ SecondCity's track I Wanna Feel.
On hearing of his album chart success, Smith told the Official Charts Company: "It's amazing. I was a bit scared a few days ago because I knew that Coldplay's album had come out. I'm so happy!"
The rest of the top five included Paolo Nutini's Caustic Love at three, Paloma Faith's A Perfect Contradiction at four and Michael Jackson's posthumous album Xscape at five.
Mariah Carey's 14th studio album, titled Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse, was the second highest new entry at number 14, while Neil Young's 35th record, A Letter Home, entered at 17.
Elsewhere in the singles chart, French house duo Klingande went in at number three with Jubel.
Mr Probz's Waves fell two places to four, ahead of Rita Ora's I Will Never Let You Down at five.
Ellie Goulding was also a new entry at number nine with her sixth top 10 hit, Beating Heart, taken from the soundtrack of teen film Divergent.
