Covid-19: Why 1.7m extra people are being added to shielding list

Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England Dr Jenny Harries explained how and why a new model was developed, which identified more vulnerable people in addition to the 2.3 million already being asked to shield in England.

Half the group have not yet been vaccinated, so will now be prioritised urgently by their local GPs.
