A person has been arrested in the Catalan town of Ripoll in connection with the Barcelona attack, according to Catalan radio.
This is the third person to be arrested in relation to the attack.
According to Javier Zaragoza,the chief prosecutor for Spain's High Court, the attackers in both Barcelona and Cambrils had no previous terror offences.

Twenty-six French citizens were injured in the Barcelona attack, and 11 of them are in a serious condition, the French foreign ministry has said, according to Reuters.
The news agency reports that the country's foreign affairs minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian,will visit Barcelona on Friday.

More details have emerged about the second attack in the town of Cambrils.
Five terrorists wearing suicide belts rammed civilians with a car in a Spanish seaside town before being shot dead by police - hours after the first attack in Barcelona.
Bystanders in Cambrils ran for their lives as gunfire broke out close to the coastal town's beachfront promenade early on Friday morning.
Residents of the popular tourist spot were ordered to take cover indoors as bullets tore through the air.
Seven people, including a police officer, were injured during the incident.
Eyewitness Jessica Tanner took shelter in a cafe for several hours

British tourist Jessica Tanner was on Las Ramblas moments before the attack.
"Where the van had driven into, we were standing there taking pictures of the street," Jessica told BBC Breakfast.
"Minutes later we heard a massive bang behind us and screaming and crying. We ran with the crowd and hid in one of the local shops. They tried to pull the shutters down. People were diving under the shutters.
"At first everyone was praying it was a road accident or collision. We were terrified."
Jessica said the emergency services and local people had been "wonderful", with taxi drivers offering to take people home.

"Terrorists in the heart of Barcelona" says Italy's La Repubblica.
Earlier police in Barcelona said they had shot dead a man in a car which failed to stop at a police check and struck a police officer.
The police check was on the Diagonal avenue in Barcelona. The car was later found in Sant Just Desvern on the outskirts of the city.
Police said there was no indication the incident was connected to the Las Ramblas attack.
However, Spanish media are now quoting police as saying that the dead man found in the car in fact died from stab wounds and was not in the driver's seat. He was the car's owner and was not known to the police, La Vanguardia newspaper reported, external.
Police are now attempting to find out who was at the wheel of the car when it ran over the police officer, the newspaper said.
The Catalan authorities were warned two months ago by the CIA that Barcelona and specifically its Ramblas boulevard were a target for jihadists, El Periodico, external newspaper reports.
The city was an obvious target following attacks in other major European cities such as Paris, London and Berlin, the US intelligence agency said.
Meanwhile at the end of July a twitter account associated with the so-called Islamic State group (IS), which has claimed it was behind the Barcelona attack, said an attack in Spain was imminent, the newspaper reported.
More details are emerging about the attempted attack in Cambrils.
El Pais newspaper says that the fifth attacker was on foot and attempted to stab people.
One of the seven people hurt in the attempted attack in Cambrils is in a critical condition, the authorities say.
