    Damage to overhead cables on the railways in the south is causing disruption to East Midlands Trains.

    There are delays of up to 30 minutes between London and the region and some services may be subject to last minute cancellations, the firm said.

    The head of the Catholic Church in the UK will be in Nottingham later to honour the city's cathedral.

    Cardinal Vincent Nichols will visit St Barnabas to help mark the 175th anniversary of its consecration as a church, back in 1844.

    He will celebrate Holy Mass in the Cathedral at 11:30 with invited guests taking part.

    There are reports of trees down in Rothley, Gilmorton, Frolesworth, Kibworth, Orton on the Hill, Houghton on the Hill and this one on Station Road in Thurnby.

    It fell on a car and hit a street light on the way down leaving electrics exposed. Luckily the driver was uninjured.

    An 18-year-old was allegedly held in his own car for up to 12 hours after three men with knives got inside.

    The man eventually managed to flee at 23:30 in Mansfield's Sutton Road on Tuesday 4 June .

    A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were arrested today and are currently being questioned.

    A 20-year-old man was also detained in connection with the offence on 6 June and has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

    Troubled travel company Thomas Cook has received a takeover approach for its tour business from a Chinese firm.

    China's Fosun is already the company's largest shareholder, and also owns the Club Med holiday business.

    Last month, Thomas Cook reported a £1.5bn loss and said there was "little doubt" that Brexit had caused customers to delay their summer holiday plans.

    Thomas Cook - which was founded in Market Harborough in 1841 - said it was in talks with Fosun, but added there could be "no certainty that this approach will result in a formal offer".

    An investigation is under way into a chemical spill at Kingsmill Reservoir.

    Officers from the Environment Agency spent the weekend cleaning the polluted water with the help of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.

    The fire service has said roughly 750 litres of a chemical from a factory entered the water way on Coxmoor Road in Sutton in Ashfield on Friday night.

    About 5,000 litres of contaminated water was contained with dams and other specialist equipment.

    Manchester United are continuing to show interest in Leicester's England defender Harry Maguire, even though the Foxes have no wish to sell the player.

    United backed away from talks last summer as they felt the 26-year-old's £70m price-tag was excessive.
