  1. I'm following in the footsteps of my musical heroes - it was a no brainerpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 1 October

    Harry Grindrod and Filippa Evans

Harry Grindrod and Filippa Evans grew up in the same village in Berkshire, where Harry was known as the boy who played in a band and made a racket in the neighbourhood - and the pair lost touch.

They met again years later in Kentish Town and Filippa had a burning question for Harry - was he still playing Blur covers in his garage like she remembered?

The couple got engaged last year and because of the musical ties the venue has – getting married at the Old Marylebone Town Hall was a no brainer.

“All of my favourite musical heroes have got married there: Mick Jagger, members of the Beatles and Sir Paul McCartney - more than once."

Filippa says the key to their strong relationship is "finding each other never endingly interesting".

Harry and Filippa are getting married at 12:00, stay with us for the latest from Old Marylebone Town Hall.

Thomas Mackintosh and Paige after wedding at Old Marylebone Town Hall

Just moments after they said "I do", Thomas Mackintosh and his wife Paige said the day had been a "whirlwind”.

“It’s quite nice being part of this. It forced us to choose a date. We handpicked our guests. They were great in there,” Thomas adds.

Thomas proposed to Paige very early one morning in Athens in 2022.

“We woke up at 05:30 and he marched me up to the Acropolis. I turned around and he was on one knee. It was fabulous,” she says.

Thomas and Paige say they will be celebrating their marriage watching Scotland play Croatia and then Poland in the Nations League.

  3. The key to a successful marriage? Tolerance, married registrars saypublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 1 October

It's not just weddings taking place today, and some couples have attended significantly more weddings than others.

Alison and Mark, both registrars, are renewing their vows after 31 years of marriage, and have been sharing the key to their success.

They met on the job - when Mark interviewed Alison for the registrar role - 36 years ago.

"Don't try to think everything is always going to be rosy - you'll have ups and downs, but if you love each other you'll get by," Mark tells the BBC.

After a quick glass of champagne, Alison is back on registrar duty at 13:00. She'll be conducting seven ceremonies this evening.

Mark says: "It's surreal being on the other side of the job - surprisingly emotional!"

They say rain is good luck on your wedding day. After a relatively dry, if chilly, start to the day, Autumn has made its presence known. The heavens have partially opened, dousing attendees with a light spattering of rain.

Umbrellas are up and coats are coming on for the couples in Old Marylebone Town Hall’s late morning slots.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. The rain shows no sign of slowing the whistle stop pace of the ceremonies, and it may even bring the couples some good luck.

Reportedly stemming from Hindu traditions that celebrate rain for the fertile soil it creates, many believe rainfall on the big day to be a good omen for married life ahead.

Admittedly, I was kneeling on the floor holding a mic so you could hear the sound on the stream above (just press watch live).

Georgia's parents got married here so Conor and Georgia felt it fitting to also tie the knot.

It's been two hours since the first wedding, and so far 18 couples have been showered in confetti (and a little rain) on the iconic steps of Old Marylebone Town Hall after their ceremonies.

The heavens have opened - but don't forget, there's an old wives' tale that rain on your wedding day is good luck!

Shona Mitchell and Kenny Price were one of the first four sets of couples to get married, bright and early at 0800.

We're very excited here at New Broadcast House to see our colleague Tom Mackintosh and his gorgeous wife-to-be Paige enter the Old Marylebone Town Hall. Their wedding will be kicking off shortly.

Don't forget, you can be a part of this special day, by pressing Watch live above.

Today is the 100th anniversary of the first marriage at the Old Marylebone Town Hall - so what better way to celebrate than with 100 ceremonies!

Couples have paid £100 to be part of the day – it usually costs between £621 and £1,231.

Around seven in 10 of those tying the knot live, work or study in the Westminster borough.

Among those getting hitched are a train driver who drives into London's Marylebone every day, and a Ukrainian couple having a same-sex marriage – something which isn’t possible back in their home country.

Are we screaming? A little bit, just a little bit.

With the Old Marylebone Town Hall just a 20 minute walk from the office, Tom did suggest to Paige he could've squeezed this 15 minute ceremony into his break.

Rest assured, he took the day off for today's celebrations.

  11. 'She took my breath away': Another happy couple tie the knotpublished at 09:58 British Summer Time 1 October

Conor and Georgia outside the Old Marylebone Town Hall

Another happy couple and a very cute baby - Harper - have just left the iconic steps of the Old Marylebone Town Hall.

Conor says Georgia "took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes" when he first saw her this morning.

Georgia says there's a "lovely sense of camaraderie" between the couples getting married today - brides have been complimenting each other's dresses across the hall.

Their first date, Conor tells the BBC's Charlotte Gallagher, was on London's Southbank. "And the rest is history, and now we're part of history," he says.

It's not long to go until my own wedding to Paige – which sparked the idea for today's coverage.

Paige and I matched on a dating app between the second and third Covid lockdowns.

We love travelling – in fact, before we'd even met we booked a trip to Vienna which was supposed to be one of our first dates (lockdown put a stop to that).

In four years, we've visited over 30 countries – including Greece, where we got engaged nearly two years ago in Athens

What I love about Paige is that she brings an energy, a joy and a personality that people easily warm to and consistently trust.

It was Paige who spotted today's opportunity – and we agreed it was going to force us to choose a date and finally get married.

Oh, and our first dance? Vienna by Billy Joel.

Shona Mitchell and Kenny Price on their wedding day

We've just heard from one of the first married couples - Shona Mitchell and Kenny Price - who said they knew "pretty much straight away" they were the ones for each other.

They're now heading back to their hotel for breakfast after an early 08:00 wedding - and maybe even a quick nap, Shona says.

Kenny adds it's been 'magical' to be one of the 100 couples making their vows today.

Shona told the BBC the couple faced "some sadness at the beginning of the year, so we thought...lets just go for it. Let's get married and have a historic day."

    Congratulations to them both!

Oliver, 32, and Georgina, 33, are getting married in half an hour

Let’s introduce you to another couple whose wedding starts in less than 30 minutes.

Georgina Russell met Oliver Jacques a month before the first lockdown in 2020.

"[We] were one of those couples who had to move in together if they wanted to be together," Georgina, 33, says. "I was introducing him on Zoom quizzes."

The pair got engaged last November on Holkham beach in Norfolk - and Georgina says she was totally oblivious in the lead-up.

“I was doing my usual self and marching ahead,” she says. “Ollie was trying to get a video and he even pretended to do a press-up challenge.

“I was saying we didn’t have much time left on the car and then I turned round and there he was on one knee.”

But Oliver, who retrained during the pandemic to be a carpenter, had thought everything through – he'd even secretly paid for longer on the car.

"It was my first Hinge date, and now I am marrying the woman!" he says.

The couple, from Penge, south-east London, are getting married at 09:00.

There were a few people gathering on the famous steps of the venue – which I'm sure will be covered in confetti later.

As I walked in some I asked one of the front of house team if they were ready for the chaos.

    "Of course," they said.
