    Another band of wintry showers has led to "dangerous conditions", East Midlands Ambulance Service has warned.

    A yellow Met Office weather warning for disruption from snow and ice remains in force across west and north Derbyshire, and northerly parts of Nottinghamshire.

    This is due to lift at midday, said the Met Office.

    The ambulance service said: "Please be mindful and take care if out and about across the region today, taking extra time for your journey where you can."

    Leicestershire Police said a stretch of the A50 remained "impassable" from junction 22 of the M1 towards Markfield.

    Drivers have been asked to find alternative routes.

    Christ Church and St Peter's C of E Primary School in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire, is closed today.

    In a post on Facebook, it said an "extremely high" number of staff had been unable to get to the school, in Rothley Road, because of flooding.

    Co-head teacher Sarah Evans said: "We have therefore made the very difficult decision to close to all pupils due to unsafe staffing numbers and safety onsite.

    "We are devastated because we were really looking forward to seeing you all."

    Leicestershire Police says it is experiencing a "high volume of calls relating to flooding" in parts of the county and in Rutland.

    The force says the most severely affected areas include Melton, Rutland and south Leicestershire, and there are flood alerts in place for parts of Charnwood.

    A force spokesperson said: "We are working with colleagues from partner agencies to respond accordingly.

    "We would ask that you only contact us about flooding if there is an immediate threat to life."

    Kinchbus says flooding means it cannot serve its full route in Sileby.

    It also says the Skylink Derby route, which serves East Midlands Airport, is missing out its stop in Derby Road in Loughborough and is not stopping in Hathern.

    It has been diverted along the M1, but is still stopping at Kegworth, the company said.

    Play Close Park and New Park, in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, have been submerged and people are being urged to avoid the area.

    The Melton Mowbray Town Estate runs the park, and its chief executive officer, Dean Rees, said: "The river has burst its banks and the water is up to 8in (20.3cm) so we are asking people not to go through."

    Nottingham City Transport has announced disruptions to their services

    Nottingham City Transport (NCT) says a number of its services are currently affected due to flooding:

    • South Notts 1 - between Clifton Crusader Roundabout and Gotham, buses will use the A453, West Leake Lane, Kegworth Road in both directions. Between East Leake Shops and Loughborough, buses are diverting along Costock Road, Castle Hill, Melton Road, A6006, Hoton and Cotes
    • Pathfinder 26 - buses are operating between Nottingham, Burton Joyce and Lowdham only due to flooding. There is no service to Brackenhurst or Southwell
    • Navy 49/B - not serving Queens Drive Park & Ride Site due to flooding. Buses are serving all other stops on route, to their regular timetable
    • Sky Blue 61 - Cannot serve Woodborough or most of Lambley due to flooding. The service will use Georges Lane, Calverton Road, Dorket Head, Mapperley Plains, Catfoot Lane, Spring Lane in both directions

    Matthew Gable, the Environment Agency's incident manager, has given an update on the flooding situation in Nottinghamshire.

    He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "There is certainly a fairly high risk of some flooding this morning. We did see quite a lot of rain overnight.

    "There's probably about 44mm fallen over the last 24 hours, which is quite a lot of water particularly on a catchment that is quite wet.

    "As that rainfall runs into the rivers, we will still see them rising throughout the next 24 hours.

    "We'll be watching that really closely."

    He said there were eight flood warnings in place across the county.

    "We have people on 24/7 monitoring the rivers and we will be issuing additional flood warnings to keep people aware," he added.

    BBC Radio Nottingham has reported flooding affecting roads in various Nottinghamshire villages including Lambley, Gotham, East Leake, and Lowdham.

    There is also flooding in Woodborough where Amanda Ward is the vice-chairman of the flood action group.

    She said: "We are having to tell residents to stay at home until the flooding has stopped because if they drive through flood water, they are not insured when the roads are closed and can cause bow waves which can cause people's homes to flood."

    Bus provider Trentbarton said a number of their services across the region would be diverted today due to flooding:

    • The i4 will be diverted due to floods in Risley, Derbyshire, and will miss all stops between Bostocks Lane and Cole Lane, instead running via Bostocks, A52 and Cole Lane
    • The sixes (6.4/6X) - Kilburn, Derbyshire - is currently flooded so the service will be diverting from Openwoodgate to Derby via the A6
    • Skylink Nottingham - this service is currently terminating at East Midlands Airport/SEGRO East Midlands Gateway as Trentbarton are unable to serve Shepshed and Coalville in Leicestershire
    • V3 - from Repton Cross to High Street in Burton-upon-Trent - is being missed due to the road between Repton and Newton Solney being flooded

    The heavy rain that has caused a lot of flooding across the East Midlands is slowly pulling away, on the back edge of the weather front it has been turning to snow.

    Through the morning this will be replaced by further wintry showers.

    A yellow weather warning is currently in place for snow and ice until midday. The wind will also increase with gusts of 40mph through the daytime.

    The authority added the A617 from Chesterfield to the M1 was also closed due to flooding.

    A stretch of the A52 in Nottinghamshire is closed due to flooding.

    National Highways says the road is closed eastbound between the A60 at Ruddington and the A606.

    There are currently delays of 45 minutes on the approach.

    Leicester Area Traffic Control has urged drivers to avoid the junction of Derby Road and Alan Moss Road, and Belton in Loughborough, as well as Beggars Lane between Leicester Forest East and Enderby, both of which are flooded.

    There is disruption across multiple routes due to flooding this morning.

    All railway lines between Derby and both Nottingham and East Midlands Parkway are closed because of flooding.

    The line between Grantham and Nottingham is also shut.

    CrossCountry and East Midlands Railway (EMR) services are affected.

    The operators are also reporting disruption from flooding closing all lines between Peterborough and Leicester.

    EMR says tickets will be accepted on alternative routes with other operators.

    The Environment Agency has declared a number of flood warnings.

    There are currently 33 flood warnings across Derbyshire, 21 in Nottinghamshire, and 30 in Leicestershire.

    This is due to heavy rain and thawing snow. Some homes and businesses are at risk of flooding, and there may be travel disruption, according to government advice.
