Two carved pumpkins sit on a table at night.

We’ve been asking for your Halloween ideas and plans - and here’s the first batch you’ve sent in.

No surprise that Jack-o’-lanterns are a firm favourite.

Liz Tray from London carved her very first pumpkins this Halloween. She got in touch via Your Voice, Your BBC News.

“I was inspired by Inside No 9’s live episode Dead Line,” Liz says, referring to the long-running BBC Two series.

“The 9 on the pumpkin is the same as the one you see in the opening credits, though not done as beautifully of course.”

Meanwhile, Gary Devereaux from Suffolk has taken his inspiration from Star Wars for his carving this year.

“The Empire Strikes Back is my number one film,” he says. “I had to sketch it out first to mark the areas that would be light and dark - very fitting for Star Wars.”

Greg, who prefers to go by Glaudia during Radio 1's version of The Traitors, says it's time to ramp the game up.

And what Glaudia says, Glaudia means.

He'll be tasking newly recruited traitor Melvin Odoom to commit a double murder in plain sight.

His victims? Weekend co-presenters Nat O'Leary and Vicky Hawkesworth.

We're waiting to hear how - and if - Melvin will take down the duo.

Charlie Hedges was the third presenter to be murdered - but not before she had started to cotton on to the twist that there might actually be no traitors at all.

"I'm fuming," she tells me as we catch up in a corridor.

She had asked on air whether there was even a traitor in the room, but she says she still suspected at least one presenter might be involved with Greg's ghoulish scheme.

"In the back of my mind I was thinking, are we being made to go against each other?" she admits.

Still, after finding out the truth about today's game, she's not confident her fellow presenters will reach the same conclusions she did.

"Towards the end of the day people are going to go for each other," she says. "Our bosses are going to have to stop pairing certain people up together on air - they're not going to want to work together."

7 faithfuls and 1 traitor out of 14 still in the game

Despite recruited traitor Melvin Odoom practically outing his newfound allegiance, it's Dean McCullough who's been banished from the live lounge.

"You guys are being played like a fiddle. A. Fiddle," says Dean, before revealing he's a faithful.

He was closely followed by Vicky Hawkesworth, who received three votes, and Alyx Holcombe, who received one.

    Melvin received none.

Just like the BBC programme, it seems the names mentioned during the discussion don't necessarily amount to anything during the vote count.

"Can I just ask something, traitors?" says Matt Edmondson to the room during the third roundtable.

Newly recruited traitor Melvin Odoom replies with a hum of acknowledgment.

Don't think for a second his fellow presenters didn't notice.

They've accused him of having "done a Linda".

He also refers to the traitors as "we" during his defence.

It's not looking good. We now await the vote count.

As a recap, we're closely following Radio 1's version of The Traitors - a game where the audience chooses who to murder.

Here's how it works in Greg James's own words:

The traitors have colluded over the radio airwaves, and Greg James has now chosen a contestant to recruit as a traitor.

It's none other than the only one left from the RMC trio, Melvin Odoom, who has accepted Greg's invitation.

Melvin will be the only traitor physically in the Live Lounge - and will continue to get remote support from Radio 1 listeners, who've been on a killing spree this morning.

On hearing that it's been the listeners bumping off faithfuls, Melvin says: "For real?"

"So you guys have been making us argue for no reason?"

    BBC Radio 1 Traitors

If you're just joining us, BBC Radio 1 is playing a game of The Traitors with its presenters to celebrate Halloween.

    • Charlie Tee
    • Charlie Hedges

    Two have been banished:

    • Ore Olukoga
    • Lauren Layfield

    Remaining faithfuls:

Lauren Layfield and Charlie Tee sitting on a sofa

I've just spoken with the recently banished Lauren Layfield, who tells me she "felt betrayed" as the group at the round table began to turn on her.

She now knows the truth - that the audience are the game's traitors - and says that as numbers dwindle, presenters will start to ask questions about how exactly the murders are happening.

Charlie Tee was the second contestant to be murdered, and she admits to feeling "ridiculous" now she knows the truth about the Traitors' identities.

"I was laying into Charlie Hedges and Melvin Odoom," she laughs. "We were so convinced."

She's never seen The Traitors before, and says it was a surprise to see how quickly the usually close-knit family of Radio 1 presenters turned on each other as questions started to be asked at the roundtable.

We're back with Greg (also known as Glaudia) on the eighth floor - the highest turret of the BBC's headquarters - for the third murder of the game.

    This time, there's a twist.

Listeners acting as Glaudia's traitors are being asked to choose both a victim and a recruit.

Austin, Bella and Charlie have all agreed it's time for presenter Charlie Hedges to go.

The decision on who will be recruited as an in-lounge traitor is between three Radio 1 presenters: Dean McCullough, Matt Edmonson and Melvin Odoom.

A quick song break now before we find out who's joining the dark side.

What’s better than listening to the radio while baking?

Especially today, because one of the perks of Halloween is having a perfectly good excuse to eat extra sweets.

Even better, it’s a chance to flaunt your creativity in the kitchen.

And if you’re not keen on doing all the hard thinking yourself, here are some recipes for Halloween-inspired cakes and biscuits.

    Adam Goldsmith
    Reporting from Radio 1

After a couple of minutes of frantic scrawling, the results of the latest banishment are in.

Minah Shannon - new to the game - immediately votes for presenter Dean McCullough.

But it's presenter Lauren Layfield who racks up the most votes as Greg circles the table.

Then, Charlie Hedges and Matt Edmondson seal Lauren's fate.

Joining Greg at the table, she tells everyone in the room to bring their opinions to the table - before declaring herself a faithful, to gasps.

"I think people need to bring more of their opinions to the round table," Lauren says in her parting words, accusing her counterparts of "colluding in private".

"Good luck, godspeed," she says as she leaves.

    BBC Live Lounge

I'm in the live lounge as Greg gathers the players by the round table once again.

The smoky setting matches the red-hot atmosphere as Dean is first to speak about who in the group might be a traitor.

He explains how they've been working together to figure out how the traitors have been carrying out their murders.

"Tell them the theory!" Melvin Odoom jumps in.

Dean McCullough then describes the process of how he was taken away, suggesting it could reveal a time when the traitors were left on their own.

He is, of course, completely wrong.

The conversation quickly turns into a heated discussion about logistics - especially who had left the room earlier, with one presenter stepping out to catch up with Greg.

Amid the arguments in the live lounge, Lauren Layfield defends herself: "If you do banish me, you're losing a faithful... you're being diverted by the traitors."

For Radio 1 listener Natalie, one of Greg's faithfuls may have had a brief moment of genius.

She thinks presenter Lauren Layfield is on to the fact that it's actually the Radio 1 listeners who are murdering her fellow contestants.

When Greg - who now goes by Glaudia - catches up with Lauren, she still seems to suspect those playing the game alongside her.

She thinks Charlie Hedges - who she says is usually cackling even when it's not Halloween - is unusually serious today.

We'll see if she brings the theory to the second round table, which is starting now.

Presenter Jordan North was gunged at the end of 2023's Spooktacular

It’s fair to say Radio 1 has a bit of a crush on Halloween.

Listeners might remember last year’s antics, when villain and games master Matt Edmondson set fiendishly tricky tasks for his fellow presenters in Brought to Tears.

Before that, presenters braved The Radio 1 Drop – with Jordan North dangling over a gunge tank, desperately trying to work out which of his colleagues he could actually trust.

There’s also been a classic murder mystery. Back in 2022, Arielle Free secretly bumped off her fellow presenters before her identity was finally unmasked.

Now, a gang of 14 presenters are having a go at their own version of The Traitors – let’s see who holds their nerve as the pressure ramps up.

"Minah Shannon!" suddenly shouts presenter Alyx Holcombe after Greg's clues.

The coffin lid slowly rises, revealing Minah, who was a traitor in series 3 of the BBC programme.

So Alyx - the self-confessed goth - earns herself a shield.

She says it's vital, as it would be "too obvious" for a goth to be a traitor.

And Minah is now joining the game as - what else can she be? A faithful.

After a series of listener-induced murders - and an intense first roundtable - it's time for the first challenge of the Radio 1 Traitors.

It's also the first time a shield - which gives immunity from the next murder - is up for grabs.

The task: use clues to work out who a mystery celebrity, inside a coffin stationed in the Live Lounge, is.

The clues so far: what sounds like a WhatsApp ping, and a description of the person as someone who "knows how to keep a secret".

    Any guesses?

  20. Trick or visual treats: White House kicks off spooky seasonpublished at 10:25 GMT 31 October

We’ve just heard the presenters are about to embark on a mission – and judging by their excitement, you’d think they’d just been handed the keys to the biscuit tin.

While they get themselves worked up, let’s take a moment to enjoy some rather charming pictures.

Now, yesterday wasn’t Halloween – not quite – but US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania decided to get the party started early, hosting a trick-or-treat event at the White House.

Here’s how it looked as they handed out sweets in front of a thoroughly transformed centre of US politics.
