Candidates have spent the last six weeks convincing people in their constituency to vote for them - but for Joe Morris, the incumbent Labour MP for Hexham, he’s even had to convince his own family.
His win ends 100 years of Conservative control of Hexham.
Asked about taking over the blue stronghold, he said: "Even my own grandma usually votes Conservative. I’m relatively sure she voted for me today… you’d hope."
The Labour MP beat Conservative candidate Guy Opperman - who in 2019 had a majority of 10,549 (22.9%) - by 3,713 votes.

Reporting from Basildon and Billericay
The final tally from Basildon and Billericay showed Tory Party Chairman Richard Holden won the seat by the slimmest of majorities - 20 votes.
He got 12,905 votes Labour came a close second with 12,885. Reform were third with 11,354 votes.
The Conservatives previously held this seat with a notional majority of 20,749 votes that has all but evaporated away in a single night.
No one seemed to be in the mood to celebrate. Despite nearly overturning a large Conservative majority, a glum Alex Harrison, the Labour candidate walked out shortly after the declaration.
Holden got into a car and drove off. An anti-climactic finish to a bitter showdown between the two men that saw two full recounts and a bundle check.

The swing in Aberdeen North that we saw earlier is very similar to what we were expecting - the 18% swing from SNP to Labour is bang in line with the BBC forecast.
It really is beginning to look as though it will be a bad night for the SNP.
