    Hugh Casswell
    Political reporter, BBC Nottingham

It's now mathematically impossible for the Conservatives to retain control of Nottinghamshire County Council.

Even if they won every seat left to declare, they'd be left with 33 seats - one short of a majority.

  8. Reform are getting closepublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hugh Casswell
    Political reporter, BBC Nottingham

Reform UK are edging closer and closer to outright control of Nottinghamshire County Council.

Before today, most predicted them to pick up a decent number of seats - perhaps enough to be the junior partner in a coalition - but right now they’re smashing all expectations.

What’s striking is they’re picking up seats in places like Broxtowe as well as those areas where they’ve done well in past elections – such as Ashfield.

A handful more Reform gains and the council is theirs.
