Elsewhere in the Rushcliffe district, the Labour Party's Penny Gowland has retained her seat in West Bridgford North.

That was a big target for the Green Party. They've beaten the Tories to second place but if they were to win a seat it was likely going to be here.

    • Richard Mallender (Green Party) - 1,257

  8. 'Reform performing even better than expected'published at 11:44 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hugh Casswell
    Political reporter, BBC Nottingham

Multiple sources are telling me Reform UK are performing even better than expected across Nottinghamshire.

Before polling day, most other parties anticipated them to win a handful of seats, but there’s now talk they could get over the line for an outright majority.

They need to gain a whopping 33 seats in order to get there, so mathematically there’s a mountain to climb.

This morning, they look like they might be in the foothills of that mountain.

  11. So what are we looking out for?published at 11:26 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hugh Casswell
    Political reporter, BBC Nottingham

Nottinghamshire County Council has 66 seats in total, so the magic number for a majority is 34.

That’s the precise number the Conservatives had going into this election, so a net loss of just one seat and they’d lose the council.

Before polling day, several sources I’ve spoken to have predicted that no party will have enough for a majority, thus opening the door for coalition talks in the weeks ahead.

With two seats set to be contested in a by-election in June, however, the full picture won’t be known for some time yet.

  12. A hot topic of the election campaignpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hugh Casswell
    Political reporter, BBC Nottingham

This election is set to be the last for Nottinghamshire County Council, at least in its current form.

Central government’s plans to scrap the two-tiered system of local government mean this authority’s days appear numbered.

As a result, the topic has become a big part of this election campaign.

In particular, parties other than Labour have tried to capitalise on fears from some people in the boroughs surrounding Nottingham City that they could end up being merged with it.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but expect the arguments over it to continue in the months to come.
