    Edward Rowe
    Political reporter, BBC Gloucestershire

The returning officer has announced how many people came out to vote in the Forest.

Turnout is lower in the constituency this time then it was in 2019 - and lower then any time then when the seat was reintroduced in the 1997 election.

Now the officials will begin counting up the votes to see who's won.

  16. Final ballot box through door in the Cotswoldspublished at 00:57 British Summer Time 5 July

    Danielle Hunt
    BBC News, Gloucestershire

Hello from Cirencester Leisure Centre where thoughts are turning to midnight snacks. We're not going to be producing two of the faster results tonight.

There is some progress to report though. All of the ballot boxes have now arrived here for the counts for the two new constituencies. The former Cotswolds seat has split up into North and South. The South seat covering a part of the former North Wiltshire seat.

The people staffing the 109 polling stations in the North Cotswolds and 84 in the South Cotswolds have completed their work to deliver their ballot boxes safely to the count and can clock off for the night.

That won't be the case for all of us here for a good while yet though. That said, snack time...

  17. Frontrunners say 'too close to call' in the Forest of Deanpublished at 00:25 British Summer Time 5 July

    Edward Rowe
    Political reporter, BBC Gloucestershire

Activists in the Labour and Conservative parties have told me they don't have a clear picture yet.

Mark Harper won in 2019 with a majority of 15,869 and has held the seat for 19 years, taking it off Labour in 2005.

Whether they can win it back isn't yet clear and both camps are staying tight lipped about their chances at the moment.

This election I've gone for a home-made green smoothie and some kombucha.

The leisure centre cafe is doing a roaring trade, with staff telling me tea, black coffee and Snickers bars are their bestsellers so far - other brands of chocolate bars are available!
