As a Conservative supporter, I'm glad that Blair is backing Miliband - it'll put off the disillusioned former Labour voters that Ed Miliband's been trying so hard to win back.

I have a question, Mr Cameron says that people should be better off working, which in principle I believe in - but I am not better off at all. My husband is disabled, he can never work again as he has multiple sclerosis, he is blind and has no coordination so cannot walk further than a few feet without falling over. I have been his carer for the past six years and have held down a full time job too (not highly paid) as I do not want to live on benefits. Our local authority house needs adaptions. As I work I have to pay over thirteen thousand pounds towards this whereas people on the same estate that are unemployed in a similar situation had the adaptations done for free. Is that really fair?

With regards to hospital waiting times, it's the 111 service that is to blame. My disabled wife requires the community nurse and a prescription from time to time, always they ask can I get her to A&E! I keep telling them she doesn't need the hospital just the community nurse! They send everyone to A&E.

Chancellor George Osborne has again refused to identify any specifics from the £12bn the Conservatives have committed to taking out of the welfare budget.

When it comes to welfare we have already saved £21bn in this parliament. We have given examples of further savings we can make like freezing working age benefits. We have set out principles we will apply, protecting the most vulnerable as we have in this parliament. So we're able to increase payments to the most disabled, safeguarding pensioners, [while] saying work has to pay and the job of reforming welfare has not finished."

I suspect the impact of Tony Blair's intervention will probably be negligible because, frankly, we've moved on from the Blair era. More interesting though, is the way this speech may make people reflect more broadly on the campaign as a whole. So far we've really focused on a barrage of statistics thrown back and forth by the two main parties. Tony Blair is almost trying to raise the sights a bit and focus on a really big issue - the UK's position in Europe.
