    Ed Miliband has been warned by Labour colleagues that he will not have the right to govern if he wins 15 fewer seats than the Tories,according to The Times, external. Parliamentary candidates have reportedly told the paper Mr Miliband could not become prime minister if Labour was not the largest party, despite claims to the contrary from his allies. One frontbencher, the paper says, has suggested he should resign if Labour finishes 12 seats behind the Conservatives.

    Yesterday, Europe came to the fore. Speaking to the BBC's Nick Robinson,  David Cameron reiterated his promise not to lead a government that fails to deliver a vote on UK membership of the EU. Nick Clegg had earlier not ruled out joining a coalition with the Tories even if they insisted on the poll. Nigel Farage, meanwhile. said that without UKIP holding the PM's "feet to the fire" he feared any referendum would not be "fair".
