David Amess kept hold of Southend West for the Conservatives, with a 14,021 majority.
Labour's Julian Ware-Lane came in second with 8,154 votes and UKIP's Brian Otridge picked up 7,803.
The Liberal Democrats, which came in fourth, saw its share of the votes fall by 20% compared to 2010.

Rebecca Harris's successful campaign in Castle Point will come as a major blow to UKIP, which targeted the seat as one it could wrangle from the control of the Conservatives.
Nigel Farage even chose to launch UKIP's election campaign in Canvey Island.
But candidate Jamie Huntman fell way short of the mark - gaining 14,178 votes compared to Harris's winning figure of 23,112.
Conservative candidate Stewart Jackson holds Peterborough with a majority of 1,925 over Labour challenger Lisa Forbes.
Mr Jackson won 18,684 votes, while Ms Forbes received 16,759 (up 6% since 2010). UKIP's Mary Herdman received 7,485 votes.

There is potentially a big shock on the cards in Colchester with the Lib Dems predicted to lose their only seat in Essex.
Sir Bob Russell MP says he has been briefed that he is going to lose Colchester.
He has successfully defended the seat since he won it in 1997.

It is not looking like a good night for Labour in the east.
We are hearing that the Conservatives' hopes are up in Ipswich and Waveney is too tight to call. Although Labour is still confident in Bedford, other Labour targets like Northampton North and Milton Keynes South could be a step too far on a night where it appears the tide could be blue not red.

The Lib Dems Sereena Davey got 801 votes in Castle Point, as the Conservatives held the seat.
Rebecca Harris won with 23,112 votes, UKIP's Jamie Huntman 14,178, Labour's Joe Cooke 6,283 and Dominic Ellis for the Greens had 1,076.
Turnout was 65.6%.

Conservative Charles Walker received 25,797 votes in Broxbourne, finishing a long way ahead of second place David Platt, who had 9,074 votes for UKIP.
Labour's Edward Robinson (8,470) was third, Liberal Democrats' Anthony Rowlands (1,467) was fourth, and the Green Party's Russell Secker (1,216) finished in fifth place.
