Neil Wilson, the Conservative candidate for Belfast East, is brimming with optimism.
"It's looking like there's a massively split vote between the Alliance and the DUP, with myself possibly coming third in that," he tells BBC Radio Ulster.
"We in the Conservative Party in Northern Ireland do not favour any pact with the DUP. The Liberal Democrats have to be the first option."
