Labour say Ian Murray will hold Edinburgh South, preventing a clean sweep for the SNP in the capital. They say victory is down to "hard graft" but tactical voting and controversy around SNP candidate Neil Hay's use of Twitter also played a part.
The 26% swing from the SNP to Labour is record-breaking. We don't believe it has ever been done before. The record might not last the night, though.

So far the turnout has been down by 4 points in the 10 constituencies in England and Wales that have declared. Despite the message of the polls that the election was going to be close, it appears that this may not have stimulated voters in England and Wales at least to go to the polls.
Labour's Margaret Curran, shadow Scottish Secretary before the election, arrives for her count in Glasgow East. She is defending an 11,800 majority.

Defeated Labour Michael Connarty says Tory campaign "skilful" and "forces of darkness in this country" left Scotland with a "tragic result".
