    Labour's Stephanie Peacock has said she will fight for working people after she was re-elected as MP for Barnsley East.

    Speaking on the podium after her result was announced, she said: "It is not a good night for my party.

    "The Labour Party was formed to fight for working people and I will do everything I can to return to doing just that."

    Meanwhile, Brexit Party candidate Jim Ferguson secured second spot ahead of Adam Gregg for the Conservatives.

    Richmond is considered one of the safest Conservative seats in the country, returning a majority of 23,108 in 2017.

    As the exit polls predict a Conservative majority it looks like Rother Valley may be among seats to change hands.

    The constituency has been held by Labour since it was created in 1918, but 101 years on could that be set to change?

    The seat, which includes the former mining town of Maltby and part of Rotherham, is likely to change tonight to Conservative, exit poll data suggests.

    Earlier Conservative candidate, Alexander Stafford, was seen to practically "bounce" into the count hall earlier.
