    The final general election result for Leicestershire comes from Loughborough where Jane Hunt has won for the Conservatives.

    She has replaced Nicky Morgan, who stepped down last month.

    Maggie Throup has been re-elected as the MP for Erewash, with an increased majority.

    The Conservative candidate beat Labour's Catherine Atkinson by 10,606 votes, more than double the majority at the 2017 election.

    James Archer of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Brent Poland came fourth.

    Voter turnout was down by 0.9 percentage points since the last general election.

    Nearly 49,000 people, roughly two-thirds of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    The Conservative candidate succeeded Sir Alan Duncan who stood down last month after being MP since 1992.

    Andrew Bridgen has been re-elected as the MP for Leicestershire North West, with an increased majority.

    The Conservative candidate beat Labour's Terri Eynon by 20,400 votes, 7,114 more votes than the majority at the 2017 election.

    Grahame Hudson of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Carl Benfield came fourth.

    Voter turnout was down by 2.9 percentage points since the last general election.

    Nearly 54,000 people, 68.2% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has been re-elected as the MP for Newark, with an increased majority.

    The Conservative candidate beat Labour's James Baggaley by 21,816 votes, 3,667 more votes than the majority at the 2017 election.

    David Watts of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Jay Henderson came fourth.

    Voter turnout was down by 0.7 percentage points since the last general election.

    Labour's Natalie Fleet gave an emotional interview ahead of the declaration in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

    The seat was previously held by Gloria De Piero for Labour but was won by Conservative Lee Anderson who had worked in Ms De Piero's office but defected from the party.

    Labour were knocked into third place by Ashfield Independent candidate Jason Zadrozny.
