  1. Maisie Williams: Not a fan of Game of Thrones spoilerspublished at 19:15 British Summer Time 8 May 2016

    Maisie WilliamsImage source, PA

Maisie Williams is probably best known for playing Arya Stark in Game of Thrones but tonight she's representing Cyberbully, which is up for best single drama.

But of course, she didn't mind being quizzed on GoT, particularly last week's episode in which a major character was revealed to be alive.

She said it was important to be able to keep a secret about major plots:

    Quote Message

I think people love to hear spoilers and they want to hear them, but I can’t tell people things about the show as entertaining as the show can. I’m a firm believer in not spoiling things for other people.

  2. Nadiya Hussain: I was naive when I entered Bake Offpublished at 19:09

Nadiya Hussain and Mary BerryImage source, PA

Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain has just been speaking to Lizo Mzimba about entering the show, which is nominated for best feature and the Radio Times audience award.

    She said:

    Quote Message

I was really naive when I entered. I'd watched the show up until that point, and it only dawned on me after it finished that it was going to be on TV and everyone was going to see all my dopey-ness! It's been a good year for me to be on.

  3. Hiddleston happy to be part of Baftaspublished at 19:05

    Tom HiddlestonImage source, PA

Tom Hiddleston will surely be nominated next year for The Night Manager, but today he's happy just to be presenting.

    Quote Message

I’m thrilled to be presenting. I’m just here as an extra, as a spare wheel. I’m presenting best leading actress and there are some phenomenal performances in there.

He agreed we are in a golden age of television at the moment.

    Quote Message

There’s so much great work going on, there’s great work that’s not nominated because there is that much going on. The Brits are making great stuff on film and television.

  4. Uh-oh... Idris Elba has lost his voicepublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 8 May 2016

    Idris ElbaImage source, PA

Idris Elba says if he wins an award tonight he'll struggle with his acceptance speech because he's lost his voice. (He does sound very husky)

He did just have enough of it left though to speak to Lizo Mzimba about his nomination for Luther:

    Quote Message

It's my first nomination for Bafta and it's amazing. It's a good feeling and it's a great British show. We worked really hard at it so it's nice to get that kind of acknowledgement. We all know how hard it is to put stuff on TV and get it made - from conception to completion, so when your peers recognise that hard work it's a really special feeling. Everyone knows the sort of graft we've taken to get there.

Speaking about the show's success, Tambor said:

    Quote Message

It's huge, its wonderful, people in the hotel were saying wonderful things about the show. I'm honoured. I knew it was a wonderful opportunity. It's not just about the trans community, it's about family, I'm a lucky guy.

  10. Charlie Brooker's Election Wipe 'therapeutic'published at 18:33 British Summer Time 8 May 2016

    Charlie Brooker

Charlie Brooker, nominated for Election Wipe, has been talking to the BBC about how challenging he found the show, where he had to condense all of the real-life drama of the general election into a single programme:

    Quote Message

It was tricky to boil it all down to an hour, because it went out the night before the election so we had to be completely impartial, and we had to make sure we were being equally horrible to everyone! It was quite therapeutic.

  11. Suranne Jones 'thrilled and proud' to be nominatedpublished at 18:23

    Suranne JonesImage source, PA

Suranne Jones, nominated for best actress, has been speaking to Lizo Mzimba about the stigma attached to starting out in a soap opera.

She used to play Karen in Coronation Street but is nominated tonight for Doctor Foster:

    Quote Message

I've been acting for a long time, I came from a soap opera and sometimes there's a snobbery around people that come from soap operas but I've learned my craft and to be here at the age of 37 I feel incredibly thrilled and proud to be nominated.

She also spoke about the improvement in the number of available parts for women:

    Quote Message

I think it's got a lot better, when we started Scott & Bailey five years ago there were fewer roles, but now there are a lot of strong female parts.

    Lenny HenryImage source, PA

Lenny Henry's been speaking to Lizo Mzimba on the red carpet ahead of tonight's ceremony, where he will receive the Alan Clarke award for outstanding contribution to TV:

    Quote Message

I've been in the business for 42 years, I never thought I'd be here receiving this award. There was a whole flash-in-the-pan thing going on with me when I first started. So this is an incredible honour and my family are proud so I'm chuffed to be here and receiving that.

He also discussed his work campaigning for more diversity in the television industry. He now hopes a commitment to diversity will be included in the BBC's new white paper, which will be published this week:

    Quote Message

I've always talked about diversity in the industry but two years ago I made a speech at Bafta and it seemed to have a big effect, so now we want diversity to be mentioned in the charter, and for the playing field to be level. There's already a coalition of the willing, people want it to happen, so that's good

Earlier this month, Sir Lenny Henry spoke to the BBC, external about his new blues album and what needs to change in the entertainment industry to make it more diverse.

Well it great fun to do we have wonderful crop of amateur bakers. I enjoy it more each year and we’re on to seven now. It’s a national event and we are doing what we are doing again this year, maybe with a few more basic bakes. We’ve just got a wonderful team.

    He said:

    Quote Message

We got in late last night from LA so my body clock is still adjusting, and I clearly brought the weather with me!

    Quote Message

England has given birth to some of the greatest actors of our generation and we always look up to how the actors are trained over here, so I feel really lucky to be here to be honest.

  19. Ruth Madley on the red carpetpublished at 17:22

    Ruth Madeley

Ruth Madeley, star of Don't Take My Baby, has just been on the red carpet.

She's nominated for best actress alongside Sheridan Smith (for The C-Word), Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster) and Claire Foy (Wolf Hall)

She says being nominated took her totally by surprise:

    Quote Message

I'm so excited, I keep feeling like someone's going to come along and say 'Oh no we didn't mean you!' When I heard I was nominated I thought they were kidding, I had no expectation whatsoever. To even be on the same list as Sheridan, Claire and Suranne is surreal.

As Jane Austen once wrote: "It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that Ex's and Oh's by Elle King is one of the best songs of 2016.*

That may be why the Bafta team have booked her to keep everyone entertained as they arrive on the red carpet.

She's performing some tracks live on the South Bank right now, have a look see:
