  2. Holyrood refuses Trump blimp permissionpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 13 July 2018

Campaigners have been refused permission to fly the Donald Trump baby blimp seen in London at Holyrood this weekend.

The 20ft inflatable - depicting the US president as a nappy-clad baby holding a mobile phone - prompted Mr Trump to tell The Sun it made him "feel unwelcome", external on his second day of a working visit to the UK.

Organisers had planned to transport the blimp to Scotland overnight on the sleeper train and fly it at a protest near the Scottish Parliament on Saturday.

But a spokeswoman for the Scottish Parliament said it "would not be an appropriate use of the parliament's grounds", although a protest rally is being allowed to leave from Holyrood on Saturday.

Earlier, protester Leo Murray, one of the blimp's "babysitters", said: "We were inundated with messages from friends and allies in Scotland asking us to bring Trump baby up, so we really wanted to make sure that he could be a part of the amazing spread of protests taking place over the weekend."

The group's previous attempt to have the blimp fly above the Trump Turnberry golf course as the president visits this weekend were blocked due to airspace restrictions. Various protests are planned to coincide with the president's visit to Scotland, including a national demonstration and "carnival of resistance" in Edinburgh.

  4. 'Dump Trump': Views from the London marchespublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 13 July 2018

Tens of thousands of protesters filled central London's streets on Friday to tell US President Donald Trump what they thought of his visit to the UK.

Rather than a red carpet, there was a sea of people, as two large marches took place and the crowds had strong messages for the president - from their problems with his policies through to hair-styling tips.

They were determined to make their voices heard, or at least create a lot of noise to make their point - that they did not want President Trump in the country.

But why did they reject a visit from the leader of the world's last superpower and one of the UK's closest allies?

A few miles south west of the gathering protesters in central London, someone with a very different view of the US president is having a busy day too.

US tennis star John Isner is playing the biggest match of his career in the semi finals of Wimbledon. He has said he'd "love" the president to come and watch him during his UK visit and has suggested he might tweet an invitation.

"I know a lot of people won't like that, but I don't care," he said earlier this week.

It might be a bit tight for time though, his match against Kevin Anderson is now in its fifth set...

President Donald Trump's visit to the Queen during his trip to the UK marks the latest in a long history of meetings between the British monarch and US heads of state.

In her 66-year reign, Queen Elizabeth II has met nearly all of the 12 presidents in office during that time, with the exception of Lyndon B Johnson and until today, Mr Trump.

Here is a selection of photographs from the monarch's meetings with past presidents.
