    Ron Chistie

Republican strategist Ron Christie, who was involved in planning President Bush's state visit to the UK in 2003, says planning that event took “many, many months" of preparation.

He adds that President Trump seems to be "really enjoying himself” on his trip, and the visit has afforded him an “opportunity to shine” away from domestic political concerns.

He adds that the president seems to be saying "look at me now" to his critics back home.

  7. 'Different tone' to Trump and Queen's speechespublished at 21:17 British Summer Time 3 June 2019

    Daniela Relph

There was a slightly different tone to the two speeches.

The president’s speech felt very much like a tribute to his host – a tribute to the Queen and what she has achieved during her long reign.

Her speech was very much about alliances, about friendship, about unity and about working together.
