    The Met Office red warning for severe weather in north-west England is no longer in force. However, the area is now covered by an amber "be prepared" warning. The red warning for North and West Yorkshire will remain in place until 22:00 GMT.

    A fund launched just a few hours ago to help those affected by flooding in Calderdale, West Yorkshire has already reached £4,000.

    The Calderdale Flood Relief Appeal is hoping to raise £100,000 to support those hit by this weekend's weather. 

  6. Update on West Yorks road closurespublished at 17:55

    There are more road closures popping up across West Yorkshire this evening. 

    The A58 Town Hall Street in Sowerby Bridge is now shut between the Walton Street junction and the A6139 at Tuel Lane. 

    The A658 Harrogate Road in Calverley is also inaccesible now, between the A657 New Line junction and The Avenue.

    The contact centre at West Yorkshire Police believe a sink hole has opened up in Ilkley, external.

    It's thought the hole has opened up in Cowpasture Road and people are being advised to avoid the area.

  10. Call for more flood defence fundingpublished at 17:41

    Friends of the Earth have called for more investment in flood defences after the latest round of severe flooding.

    A spokesman said: "The record rainfall and repeated floods this month are a sad sign of our changing climate, and highlight the need for greater action by the government.

    "The prime minister's Flood Resilience Review must result in more investment in flood defences, and radical cuts to the carbon emissions that are super-charging our weather."

    Dawn Blatherwick sent this picture of the River Aire in Castleford, where the waters are continuing to rise at a frightening rate.

    Water is creeping up around the former Allinson's flour mill, which is now home to the Castleford Heritage Trust.

  14. Flood warning rises in Yorkshirepublished at 17:06

    Good evening, I'll be taking over live coverage of the flooding in Lancashire and Yorkshire and will be with you until 6pm.

    In the last few minutes we've learned there's another flood warning been issued for the River Calder in Brighouse, which is seeing record levels.  

    The peak is expected to reach 2m and there are fears about the impact on infrastructure in the area.

    A BBC technical operator spending Christmas in Yorkshire saw a family with their baby and pet dog being rescued by a boat.
