    Three masked men - one who was armed with a gun - forced their way into a woman's house in Bradford and stole cash, jewellery and a car.

    The attack happened on Saturday as the woman, in her 40s, answered a knock on her door on  Upper Rushton Road. 

    The three robbers forced their way inside and demanded gold and jewellery. 

    The woman was unhurt.

  2. Elbow to play at Forest Live near Pickeringpublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2017

    Elbow is the latest band to announce dates as part of Forest Live, which will be coming to North Yorkshire this year.

    The event sees acts perform in spectacular woodland settings around the country as part of the summer concert series promoted by the Forestry Commission. 

    They'll play at Dalby Forest, near Pickering, on 24 June. 

  3. York Big Issue seller's funeral heldpublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2017

    A funeral for a Big Issue seller which was paid for by donations has been held.

    Peter Toulson, 53, sold the magazine from a pitch outside a department store in York's Parliament Street. He died in November. More than £5,000 was raised for his funeral after an appeal.

    The funeral took place at Lawnswood Crematorium in Leeds and a memorial service is due to be held in York in February.

    A disabled man says an Uber driver refused to take him as his wheelchair would not fit in the boot.

    Josh Gardner, from Leeds, says the driver left him by the roadside.

    Uber says it's investigating and the driver has been suspended.

    Chesterfield have announced striker Ched Evans has signed a one-year contract extension.

    The 28-year-old has been the subject of much transfer speculation, after scoring seven goals since his arrival at the Proact in the summer.

    The new deal will see Evans stay with the Spireites until the end of the 2017/18 season, external.

    Two women have been charged with preventing lawful work from being carried out during a protest against tree felling in Sheffield.

    Jenny Hockey (pictured left) and Freda Breyshaw (right) were arrested in November as they demonstrated against the council's decision to cut down a number of trees on Rustlings Road.

    They're due to appear before Sheffield Magistrates' Court later this month.

    Earlier I told you the latest fundraising efforts in a campaign aiming to get a judicial review of English Heritage's decision to approve plans for a new visitor centre at Clifford's Tower in York.

    The campaign was started by local councillor Johnny Hayes - who even put £7,500 of his own money towards it.  

    Johnny hoped concerned citizens would contribute the same amount via a crowdfunding page.

    However, a little earlier the total had surpassed that and now sits at about £9,000.

    Nine out of the 11 hospital trusts in Yorkshire are struggling to cope with the continuing winter health crisis - with more than 90% of beds taken up, figures obtained by the BBC in Yorkshire show.

    There are more than 8,000 hospital beds in Yorkshire, but in the first week of this year 94% of them were full. 

    Experts claim patient safety is put at risk if more than 85% of beds are occupied.

    The attack at a Tunisian beach resort that led to the deaths of 30 UK tourists, including a couple from Leeds, could have been stopped sooner, a coroner has heard.

    Islamist gunman Seifeddine Rezgui opened fire near Sousse in June 2015, killing 38 holidaymakers in total.  

    Christopher and Sharon Bell, from Killingbeck in Leeds, were among those killed.

    The counsel to the inquests into the British deaths said a Tunisian judge's report had identified failings by local security units before police arrived.

    North Yorkshire County Council is starting a breastfeeding support service at its children's centres, and community benefits and health visitors from Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust are helping breastfeeding groups.

    Sheffield is set to join York and Leeds in offering free wi-fi within the city centre.

    The council and Sheffield Business Improvement District are due to discuss later this week how they can introduce public internet access.

    They hope it'll attract more visitors and shoppers.

    City centre manager Richard Eyre stresses he wants the scheme to incur "zero cost" for the taxpayers of Sheffield.

    Over the weekend about 12,000 litres pooled on to the M606 following an HGV crash.

    Since then, some of that paint has made its way into nearby watercourses.

    The Environment Agency are currently assessing how much damage has been caused to local wildlife. 

    The agency says the becks around the motorway are now running clear, but samples of the water have been taken away for testing.

    Chesterfield are close to appointing Tony Mowbray as their new manager, BBC Radio Sheffield understands.

    The 53-year-old was most recently manager of Coventry City, a position he left at the end of September, and previously had spells at Middlesbrough, West Brom and Celtic.   

    An official announcement is expected in the next 24 hours.

    Chesterfield have been searching for a replacement for Danny Wilson, who was sacked earlier this month.

    Two students from an unnamed Sheffield secondary were seen watching the footage and school management approached Sheffield Council's education safeguarding advisers for advice.

    Hundreds of balloons are due to be released today near the school that Katie Rough went to in York on what would have been her eighth birthday.
