The Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banking Group (CYBG) is reported to be closing 79 branches with the loss of 400 jobs.
The Unite union said the closures represented a third of the bank's total branch network.
The move was described as the largest-ever closure plan by the bank.
Unite national officer Rob MacGregor said the move would be "concerning" for local communities which would be left with less choice in banking services.
Unite has published a list of the branches expected to close:

A list of Clydesdale branches in Scotland Unite believe will close was also revealed.

A man has been arrested in connection with a bomb hoax in Leeds this morning.
Bomb disposal officers were called to the Victoria Gate shopping centre at about 08:40 this morning, a large area was cordoned off and the shopping centre was closed.
The device was declared safe around lunchtime and the area is fully reopen.
A 35-year-old man is currently in custody.
A man has been arrested over the incident in Leeds city centre earlier which saw roads and a shopping centre cordoned off.

Fire service officials say they will send firefighters home who refuse to crew the new Tactical Response Vehicle (TRV).
The Fire Brigades Union claims, external the vehicles are unsafe because they cannot perform firefighting or rescue operations at incidents where there is a risk to life, such as house fires.
The fire service say they'll continue to send home firefighters who refuse to crew the TRV's.
