    South Yorkshire Police want to speak to this man about a fraud incident at a supermarket in Sheffield.

    On Sunday 12 November at the Co-op on Southey Green Road a man asked for some money to be changed.

    What police are describing as distraction techniques were used and the man left the shop with a quantity of cash.

  4. Storm Eleanor: Over a thousand without power in Yorkshirepublished at 09:02 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2018

    Northern Powergrid is at work restoring power to more than a thousand homes across Yorkshire.

    Huddersfield, Doncaster, Leeds and York are some of the places affected.

    If you're out and about driving this morning watch out for a few fallen trees, particularly near the coast.

    The A171 Scalby Road is partially blocked near A165 Coastal Road (Jolly Sailors roundabout).

    Swang Road is closed at Limestone Road in Scalby.

    Hackness Road is partially blocked around Moor Lane.

    Belvedere Road is partially blocked near A165 Filey Road.

    Almost 3,000 homes are without power in the Doncaster area this morning following Storm Eleanor.

    The worst affected areas are those with a DN5 and DN6 postcode.

    There are also hundreds of other homes without power in parts of Barnsley, Halifax, Yeadon, and York.

    Northern Powergrid says they are working to get power restored as soon as possible.

  8. Listen: Claims knives taken into Sheffield clubpublished at 08:04 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2018

    Police in Sheffield say they'll be working with pubs and clubs in the city to put measures in place to stop knife crime.

    It follows an incident at Crystal Bar on Carver Street on New Year's Eve where two men were seriously injured with stab wounds. The club is to be closed for a further seven days as police investigate what happened.

    There's a speed restriction on the highest part of the M62 this morning.

    There are strong winds on the route between J24 A629 (Ainley Top) and J21 A640 (Milnrow)

    The matrix sign is set to 40 mph.

    A doctor at Scarborough hospital says that the emergency department wouldn't be able to cope with a major incident.

    Dr Adrian Harrop who specialises in emergency medicine has described the situation as chaotic. He says that some patients are waiting a day for a bed.

    He says it's in the worst condition he can ever remember.

    Dr Harrop says anything serious coming in would be challenging.

    York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust says its hospitals in York and Scarborough have been "extremely busy", with a high number of patients with flu and other respiratory illnesses.

    Storm Eleanor is moving out into the North Sea.

    A flood warning is in place now for Sandsend near Whitby, Foreshore Road on Scarborough's seafront and Scarborough's Spa Complex.

    The high tide is expected about now. A flood warning means that flooding is expected.

    The driver of this car had a lucky escape in the early hours of this morning.

    The car overturned on the B6160 at Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales. The motorist walked away with no injuries.

    There are a few speed restrictions in place and warnings about driving conditions this morning.

    Storm Eleanor has brought strong winds to the county overnight.

    On the M62 between J36 and J37, Ouse Bridge remains closed to high sided vehicles due to strong winds (50-60 mph).

    Drivers in vehicles susceptible to cross winds are being asked to plan accordingly and use alternative routes.

    The A66 is now open to all traffic between A685 Brough and A67 Bowes in both directions. Wind speeds have subsided however drivers should still take care when driving

    Roads around Bridgewater Place - the tall building in Leeds - have been closed to high sided vehicles until 11:00.
