    Police in Bingley are looking for three youths after something was thrown onto railway power lines causing "loud bangs".

    It happened just before Christmas on the Leonard Street bridge. Trains using the lines had to be stopped, causing long delays.

    There were two loud bangs according to British Transport Police, they also say the stoppage in service will have cost train operators thousands of pounds

    Three youths were seen running from the scene.

    Asda has announced more redundancies today at its Leeds head office.

    The supermarket has said that almost 30 of its property division staff will leave just days into new boss Roger Burnley's tenure.

    It's the latest in a series of cost cutting measures for the supermarket chain in recent months. In September nearly 300 jobs went and further 800 staff had their job descriptions changed.

    Mr Burnley, formerly Asda's chief operating officer and deputy CEO, took up the top job on 1 January after Sean Clarke stepped down.

    There are plenty of reports in Yorkshire's media today about the "Aussie flu" and that many places around our region have become so-called hotspots for the virus.

    Every winter there are a few strains circulating and "Aussie" flu or H3N2 is just one of them. It is an influenza A virus that appears to cause more severe infections in young children and the elderly.

    You can read lots more about it here, but these are the main symptoms:

    Flu symptoms come on very quickly and can include:

    • fever (temperature above 38C)
    • aches
    • tiredness or exhaustion
    • dry, chesty cough
    • sore throat
    • headache
    • loss of appetite
    • tummy pain or diarrhoea
    • nausea and being sick

    A baby born with a hole in her heart had to wait four months for a major operation to repair the defect, after the procedure was cancelled five times.

    Leanne Smith, 20, said her daughter Evelyn Johnston-Smith was at risk of cardiac arrest as she waited for surgery at Leeds General Infirmary.

    She said the wait had been "traumatic" but she did not blame the hospital.

    A hospital spokesperson said the "difficult" decision to cancel the operation was "not taken lightly".

    A bus and two cars have crashed on Abbeydale Road in Sheffield.

    Police say at around 12:30 this afternoon a bus, a red Toyota and a silver Vauxhall were involved in a collision.

    One car driver has been taken to hospital with back injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

    Leeds United forward Samu Saiz has been banned for six matches after being charged with spitting at an opponent in their FA Cup defeat by Newport County.

    The 26-year-old was sent off by referee Mike Dean in injury time of Sunday's third-round tie at Rodney Parade.

    The Spaniard, who can appeal against the suspension, has scored nine goals in 26 appearances for the Championship side this season.

    As it stands he will be unavailable until Tuesday, 20 February.

    South Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance service are currently attending an accident on Abbeydale Road in Sheffield.

    The incident took place at the junction with Hale Street this lunchtime and involved two cars and a bus.

    The driver of one of the vehicles has been taken to hospital with back injuries but they're not believed to be life-threatening.

    A large amount of jewellery has been stolen during a burglary at a shop in York.

    Two men broke in to Cavendish Jewellers on Stonegate on Saturday night.

    They spent over half an hour raiding the display cabinets before escaping through the back of the shop.

    One man has been described as average build and height, wearing a dark jacket with a hood and beanie hat.

    The other man was wearing a body warmer, dark Nike trainers and a beanie hat.

    Have you seen 42-year-old Martin Cawley, he's been missing from Halifax since November last year.

    He was due to go to an appointment on 23 November 2017 but never arrived and hasn't been seen since.

    Police say he has connections in Ireland, but they think he could still be in the UK.

    He has several tattoos including: "Jordan" in the centre of his neck and a love heart scroll with ‘Ellie-Jo’ on his right hand.

  17. Watch: Work starts on Leeds Bridge todaypublished at 12:38 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

    Leeds Bridge is due to be shut for traffic heading into the city for the next 16 months as maintenance is carried out on the structure.

    It's no surprise it needs a bit of sprucing up, there's been some kind of bridge there since the Middle Ages and the bridge itself was built in 1873.

    But perhaps the most important fact about Leeds Bridge is that it was the setting for the first-ever moving images captured on film.

    The Lumiere brothers and Thomas Edison are usually credited with pioneering the moving image but in 2015 a campaign to recognise Louis Le Prince as the father of film was launched.

    He took a short film on Leeds Bridge in 1888 but Le Prince disappeared before he could make a claim to be the world's first film maker.

    This man was captured on CCTV on the night that bank cards were stolen from a hotel room in York.

    It happened some time after 7:40pm on November 24 2017 at the Hotel Du Vin where the victim was staying with her husband.

    On the following morning the woman received phone call from someone pretending to be from Barclay's Bank. She provided them with her personal details and PIN.

    Once she realised her bank cards had been stolen she phoned the bank and discovered £2,600 had been withdrawn from Barclay's Bank on High Street, Doncaster.

    Doncaster PCSOs have seized two illegal off-road bikes

    It's after members of the public reported two men had been seen riding an illegal off-road bike dangerously on roads and pavements around the Doncaster area.

    Police have issued some safety information, external following the seizures:

    • For any riders it is vital they have had the correct training for their bike so they are able to recognise its capability and the wider dangers they could cause to not only themselves, but also others around them.
    • As well as understanding your bike, you will need to identify where your off-road bike can be ridden in the local area. There will be dedicated off-road tracks where you can ride your bike in a safe and purpose-built environment.
    • Anyone, whether you are a rider or passenger, will need a safety helmet, riding boots, protective clothing and gloves.
