    Police say they're trying find this man from Wakefield after he failed to appear in court.

    Matthew Maragh is wanted on a court warrant and West Yorkshire Police say they've been looking for him for several weeks.

    Officers think the 29-year-old is still in the Knottingley or Pontefract area.

    A new senior police officer has been put in charge of York and Selby.

    Superintendent Lindsey Robson has taken up the post of Commander for the area.

    The position's described as a key one by Chief Constable Dave Jones.

    Lindsey said she is excited to return to Fulford Road as Commander to serve the people of York and Selby.

    She described the move as a "homecoming" having spent many years in service in the area.

    A Yorkshire MEP has said he "would consider" stepping in as the interim leader of UKIP.

    Mike Hookem said in a statement he has been asked if he would temporarily fill the role.

    At the moment, there is no vacancy.

    However, UKIP leader Henry Bolton is under pressure after tweets made by his former girlfriend about Meghan Markle.

    A meeting of the UKIP National Executive Committee will be held on Sunday.

    This driver was lucky not to be involved in a crash this morning when the car slid on ice in Sheffield:

    The footage was sent to us by James Allcock, who said there were at least four other cars that did the same thing.

    The stretch of ice was at the junction of Providence Road onto Walkley Bank in Walkley.

    James told us the one lady was "sliding down our road on her bum" - what ever it takes to get to work eh?

    Sheffield bin collections have been disrupted due to icy road conditions.

    Contractor Veolia says collections have been suspended due to "dangerous conditions".

    The advice from the firm is to leave your bin out until it is collected.

    A body has been found by police searching for missing Doncaster man John Parker.

    The 54-year-old had been reported missing from his home in Balby in October.

    The body was found in Oswin Avenue in Balby at 11:00 yesterday.

    Formal identification and a post-mortem examination have yet to take place but police believe there are no suspicious circumstances.

    A new £5m bridge is set to be built in Barnsley town centre.

    It'll replace the level crossing near the train station which has been the subject of safety concerns.

    The project is a joint venture between Network Rail and Barnsley Council.

  9. Asda to ban sale of energy drinks to under 16spublished at 12:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

    Leeds based supermarket Asda says it's going to ban the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to children under 16.

    The supermarket has taken the move along with Aldi and is the first of the "big four" supermarkets to do so.

    The ban will apply to 84 products starting on 5 March and will work in the same way as the sale of alcohol, where customers might be asked to show ID.

    Energy drinks are linked to obesity and various types of cancer, as well as type 2 diabetes and tooth decay in children.

  10. RSPCA officer 'shocked' by condition of emaciated dogpublished at 11:53 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

    The RSPCA says it's looking for the owners of this emaciated dog which had to be put to sleep after he was found in a bin store in Leeds.

    Officers say the dog had "every bone visible" when they were called to pick him up from Beeston last week.

    RSPCA inspector Emma Ellis said she was "shocked" by what she saw when she got there to collect him and took him to the vets where he was put to sleep on humane grounds.

    The charity says he wasn't chipped so there's no way of finding out who he belonged to and now it hopes someone will recognise the dog and come forward:

    A new plan aimed at improving education and career prospects for young people in Doncaster has been launched.

    The plan has four priorities: to raise literacy and maths standards, encourage better teaching, increase aspiration and boost opportunities.

    Education Minister Damian Hinds (pictured) says he wants all children in Doncaster to reach their potential, no matter where they're from in the borough.

    People sleeping rough in York could get more support under plans due to be considered by senior councillors in the city.

    One proposal is to make 16 emergency beds continuously available whatever the weather between November and February.

    Under the national Severe Weather Scheme, the beds are currently only available when the temperature drops to freezing or below.

    Senior councillors will also consider plans to allocate some of an agreed £20m housing investment fund to build affordable one-bedroom properties to help reduce homelessness among single people and couples.

    An exhibition celebrating inspirational women in history is opening in Leeds.

    The event opens at Kirkstall's Abbey House Museum this weekend and marks the centenary of the first British women getting the right to vote.

    It also highlights the work of Leeds suffragette Leonora Cohen who became a famously passionate and militant campaigner in the early 20th Century.

    Special ceramics have also been made to celebrate the lives of 1940s all-female jazz band leader Ivy Benson, born and bred in Holbeck, Morley cycling champion Beryl Burton and Edith Pechey, one of the first female doctors who practiced in Leeds.

    Campaigners in Sheffield have been awarded £10,000 to restore a Sheffield graveyard.

    The Heritage Lottery Fund has provided funding for the work at the Zion Graveyard in Attercliffe, which was at risk of being turned into a car park.

    A West Yorkshire MP is calling for more help to reunite Rohingya Muslim refugees in Bangladesh with their families.

    International Development Secretary, Penny Mordaunt, says she'll personally look at individual cases, after Bradford East Labour MP, Imran Hussain, raised the issue in Parliament this week.

    Din Mohammed Noori lives in Bradford, but his mum and dad are stuck in a refugee camp.

    He says conditions there are "horrible":
