It's part of what's being termed "a wider assessment of reform to the courts and tribunals estate".

In 2013 Selby Magistrates' Court in the county shut as part of government cuts to save money.

Victim Support said because victims and witnesses would now have to travel 20 miles to York, it could impact on their quality of evidence.

  2. 'Good' rating for Doncaster Children's Servicespublished at 08:52 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

Doncaster Children's Services Trust has been given a "good" rating by inspectors in a report published this morning.

They were previously given an "inadequate" rating in their last examination by OFSTED in 2015.

The trust took over children's services from Doncaster Council in 2014.

It came after seven children died at the hands of abusers over five years and the case of two boys being tortured in Edlington in 2009.

Earlier, the Children's Minister described the service as being "completely turned around".

  3. Listen: Containment ward set up for York flu victimspublished at 08:17 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

York hospital has set up a containment ward for patients with flu and other winter viruses.

NHS figures revealed the city has the highest number of people in England going to the doctor with flu.

Almost 20,000 people visited their GP across the country with the illness in the first week of 2018.

Damian Moor, a consultant microbiologist at York hospital, says the containment ward has been successful in preventing the viruses spreading:

Ian Toothill was 48 and made the epic trip last summer to raise money for the MacMillan cancer charity.

He was initially diagnosed with bowel cancer in June 2015, and was given between four months and two years to live.

His fundraising bid raised almost £31,500, most of which was used to pay for his trip. The rest was donated to the charity.

It's expected to be the first of many similar arrangements across North Yorkshire.

The county's police and crime commissioner, Julia Mulligan, thinks it will improve collaboration and save money.

Police officers are moving out of their building on North Street in Ripon, to relocate to the fire station half-a-mile away.

The police building (pictured) is seen as outdated and costly to run.

  7. Listen: Doncaster Children's Services 'beacon' for otherspublished at 07:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

Doncaster Children's Services Trust has been described as a beacon for others to look to by the government.

Children's services in the town have been under Government control since 2009, following the deaths of seven children through abuse or neglect over a period of five years.

In 2014 an Independent Trust took control from the Council.

Its latest Ofsted report is due to be published this morning.

The Children's Minister, Nadhim Zahawi, says the service has been "completely turned around":
